Hello Hampton Roads Post!
I hope some of you enjoyed touring the Courthouse last month, and thanks go out to Melissa Waefler for setting that up. We often focus on new construction, but it’s good to turn around and look at completed buildings a few years later. Are they being used as intended? Are the “bright ideas” that we put in place actually working? What are the annual maintenance and utility costs? Are the occupants happy with the layout, or did we miss something which can be counted as a lesson learned? I appreciate the City allowing us to come in and take a look.
This month we will have our annual Scholarship presentations, awards ceremony, and our Change of Watch as we induct a new SAME Hampton Roads Board of Directors. First, congratulations to the scholarship winners! Efram Fuller and his scholarship board have gone out of their way to ensure we are providing scholarships to deserving STEM students in the Hampton Roads area. Also, congratulations to Mike Pampalone of Jacobs for taking the reins from me and to the rest of the incoming Board! I hope that you’ll join me at the Westin on the 20th for presentations and the induction of the new Post President and new board.
All my best,
June Luncheon: Scholarship Awards, Post Member Awards, Induction of 2018-2019 Officers
Date: June 20, 2018
Time: 11:30 - 1:30
Location: Westin Town Center
The incoming BOD and Committee members will be inducted at our 20 June 2018 meeting. Welcome new and returning volunteers, without whom we would not continuously earn the designation as a Distinguished Post among all SAME Posts throughout the world.
Also at this luncheon, we will award scholarships to highly qualified high school graduates and current college students. Your contributions to our raffle fund throughout the year are greatly appreciated, as they allow us to build a robust scholarship program. Kudos to Mr. Efram Fuller (Brown and Caldwell) and his committee for their continued dedication to this effort.
Finally, we will recognize individuals and organizations receiving a Hampton Roads Post Award for their contributions in 2017-2018. Post President CAPT Pat Dugan, USCG did a fantastic job with this year's program and we invite you to join us as we applaud the winners.
Please note, this month's program will run slightly longer than normal, so please plan accordingly.
12:00-1:30 Scholarship Awards, Post Awards, 2018-2019 BOD Induction
